Finn's Birth

Finn Charles Kimble
January 18, 2011
9 lb, 2oz
20 inches

Kenny, Mom, and I arrived at 5:30 am to the hospital for our planned C-section.  We were checked in, I got my IV, and were sent to the prep room.  After meeting all of the nurses, anesthesiology, etc., it was time!  Finn arrived at 8:34am, weighted 9lb, 2oz, and was 20 inches long.  Nana and Daddy got to be in the OR to see him arrive, which was a first for Nana.  We were so excited she got to be there!  Our friend Christine, a nurse, pulled some strings for us with the anesthesiologist and we were treated like VIPs.  His birth was amazing for me, as I got to see him immediately over the cover, dripping fluids all over me.  I actually had a view of the table where he was assessed, cleaned up, and measured, so I felt very involved and not focusing on the surgery.  I never got to see any of that with the girls.  Finn came out crying and totally adorable!  He grabbed the measuring tape the nurse was using and everyone got a laugh!  Kenny cut the cord and watched everything up close.  I was brought into the recovery room and Finn, Nana, and Kenny went to the nursery for a bath.  Then he was brought into the recovery room to me to feed.  He latched on quickly and ferociously!  He was not satisfied, so we ended up giving him a bottle of formula right there!  He is such a boy- came out starving and eats eagerly!  I was back in my room within an hour, and settling in with Finn.  I couldn't believe the light color of his eyes and his highlighted hair!  He is so cute- it was instant love!  We were moved to our regular room, and then Delaney and Lucy came around noon.  They were excited to meet and hold their new brother!  We had many visitors while at the hospital including Nana, Papa, the Big Sisters, Renee, Rhonda, Lindsey, Casy, Barbie, Elaine, Abby, and Maria.  We had a celebratory meal from the hospital of filet mignon with sparkling cider!  Delaney stayed and had some one on one time with us and Finn, while Lucy wasn't very interested in hanging out in the hospital.  Delaney loved it!  We were discharged on Friday morning and are settling in!
