February 2011
We are beginning to settle into a routine with Finn...we had a rough few weeks starting at day 16. We changed formulas 4 times, changed bottles, tried Mylicon drops, probiotics, Gripe Water, and now he is on Zantac for acid reflux. That has seemed to have tamed the beast! No more crying for hours at a time at night! Our sweet baby is back! The crying didn't seem to bother the girls, they still wanted to hold him all the time, even when he was screaming! The love their little brother!

Finn 1 Month Old
1 month old! |
Finn is now topping the charts at 10lb, 3 oz and 21 inches long! He is wearing size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothes. We are starting to see bits of personality and smiles, and he seems to be recognizing us!
Finn was a perfect angel up until day 16! He was eating his last bottle at 11pm, then we had to wake him up 5 hours later to eat (per doctor's orders)!! Then at day 16, something changed and he became very fussy...but a painful fussiness! You can just tell that he is hurting, especially after feedings and at night time, where he will cry for hours at a time. He doesn't nap well because something wakes him up...I am assuming it is gas pains. So we don't really have a schedule established. I feel awful knowing that he is in pain from something. We have changed formulas 3 times now, and have tried every remedy possible...from Mylicon drops, Gripe Water, probiotics, and every burping technique known to man! I feel like I call the pediatrician every day for more suggestions! We just have to figure this little guy out and hope his digestive system matures! He eats about 3.5 ounces every 3 hours, with his last feeding at 10 pm, then he goes for a stretch until about 3-4am. We can't complain about that! Finn is sleeping in his own room, in his Moses basket placed on an incline in his crib to help with digestion. He is a NOISY sleeper, with grunts and farts that keep me awake! Finn LOVES to sleep swaddled, and uses a binky when he is hungry. Finn is tracking with his eyes, and his head is getting much stronger! He can't keep his eyes off his big sister, Delaney! He is starting to like his swing more, but there are times when I can't put him down!
Finn has been to the beach and Target, some major trips! I find myself staying home alot more with him as he is so fussy and unpredictable- I never know when he will get into a crying fit! Finn doesn't like to be put in his carseat, but LOVES the car once it is moving! Finn is definitely our most challenging newborn so far, but we just have to work through it! He is a sweet, sweet baby! I just feel awful for the little guy!
His sisters continue to adore him and always ask to hold him, even when he is screaming! I definitely feel guilty because Finn is requiring almost all of my time, but the girls handle it great and they play so well together...I am so happy that they are so close and such great friends!
